Founding president and Canadian actress Tonya Lee Williams, of The Young and the Restless, speaks passionately about her vision: “The ReelWorld Film Festival honours and encourages Canada’s diverse filmmakers, so their work can be acclaimed by fellow Canadians and the world.”
“No longer is Hollywood the only place where international product is produced,” says Ms. Williams. “I am confident that ReelWorld Film Festival will be at the forefront of a new, emerging entertainment industry.”
This year’s line-up will feature over 100 hours of programming, including feature films, shorts, music videos, documentaries and animations. As well, the expanded Industry Series panels will run throughout the festival, presenting dynamic speakers from every area of the business—from casting directors to screenwriters to directors, producers and actors. With an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant of $205,000 over three years, ReelWorld will offer more films, broaden its audience, and strengthen strategic partnerships with area organizations and businesses.
ReelWorld Film Festival 2003 ran April 2 to April 6, at SilverCity at Empress Walk. For more information, visit www.reelworldfilmfest.com.
