Members of Spirit of Life organizations shared news of its $56,100 grant from OTF and unveiled plans to conduct a community needs assessment study with the objective of establishing a Chinese Development Services Council. The support will help identify challenges faced by Chinese Canadians with developmental disabilities and their families in York Region so service co-ordination and delivery can improve. |

The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie and 17 collaborating municipalities and organizations received funding of $115,000 from OTF to increase the level of physical activity through play. The Barrie Film Festival received a two-year $60,000 grant to develop programming through part-time staff support and computer equipment. A two-year grant of $116,000 was provided to the Habitat for Humanity-Huronia to install a more energy-efficient heating system in its ReStore, and build its organizational capacity by hiring a fund development officer. |

The Scarborough Youth Resource Centre (SYRC), a division of Tropicana Community Services, celebrated its 15th anniversary and the $223,000 grant it received from the Foundation in June. The three-year funding will be used to support SYRC’s efforts to remain a safe haven for local youth. SYRC is a drop-in centre for a youth ages 12-24, and provides activities, programs and resources that promote opportunities for personal development, employment and a sense of community. |

With the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Dundas Pipes and Drums will continue their legacy of piping, drumming and teaching, thereby bringing the traditions and love of Highland music to the community. Earlier this summer, the Foundation gave the band a $30,600 grant to help engage more youth and buy new drums for the band. |

Best Buddies Canada and Community Living Hamilton received a $97,800 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation earlier this year to help expand the Best Buddies program in Hamilton. Funding will support the expansion of the Best Buddies program to Hamilton area schools. |

Ski Friends of the Frost Centre unveiled some much needed equipment for its upcoming season thanks in part to a $28,600 grant it received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Ski Friends purchased two new Yamaha snow machines to enhance the grooming of their cross-country ski trails, providing improved and more reliable winter trail conditions for skiers. |

The 428 Peterborough Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association (428 Wing) held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newly renovated community space. The 428 Wing received a $60,000 OTF grant in October 2008 for kitchen and washroom renovations and new computer equipment. These improvements will enhance the organization's efficiency and enable greater use of the facility by seniors, cadets and local community members. |

Some 1000 free tire gauges and fuel-saving coupons were handed out in Ottawa as part of a new campaign by One Change to help drivers become more fuel efficient. One Change is supported by a one-year OTF grant of $61,800 to educate drivers about fuel efficiency and green house gas reduction. |
