Ontario Trillium Foundation Knowledge Sharing Centre
The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Knowledge Sharing Centre was established in 2008 to support a knowledge-sharing culture within the Foundation and throughout Ontario’s not-for-profit sector.
Knowledge is value-added information In the information age, as the name implies, data and information are available everywhere. But information does not constitute knowledge. Value-added research, analysis and context turn information into knowledge that can be put into action by an organization.
Knowledge is a crucial asset Knowledge is a critical asset for any organization as it leads to informed decisions and action. As part of its commitment to providing value-added support to the not-for-profit sector, OTF is now more proactive in sharing knowledge to support learning and continuous improvement.
Knowledge sharing in three words – access, convening and action With a central focus on advancing the Foundation's mission of strengthening the capacity of Ontario’s voluntary sector, the Knowledge Sharing Centre will:
ACCESS
- Increase access to OTF research documents and other useful resources through distribution and promotion of the knowledge that resides within the Foundation.
- Share with grant recipients, other stakeholders and the community at large OTF learnings, obtained from its own research, its unique vantage point and more than 25 years of experience as a grantmaker in communities throughout the province.
CONVENING
- Act as a convenor of workshops, meetings and conferences to foster a rich exchange of ideas and knowledge, encourage partnerships and speed the identification of solutions.
- Conduct public consultations across the province to further connect OTF with Ontario communities and the not-for-profit sector and guide OTF’s efforts to respond to local needs.
ACTION
- Increase the ability of organizations or individuals to take informed action.
- Link people to specific knowledge in order to support healthy planning and discussion among OTF’s various stakeholders.
- As one of Canada’s leading grantmakers, drive informed debates, decision making and change to support the not-for-profit sector and its role in building healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
