Community groups across Ontario will welcome the news that the Ontario Trillium  Foundation (OTF) is raising the funding limits for its capital grants. Beginning with the November 1, 2007 application deadline, not-for-profit groups can  now apply for grants of up to $150,000. Previously, the limit was $75,000 in most parts of the province.

“Community organizations in Ontario have told us that they value the Foundation’s capital grants. We’ve listened and we’re responding to the huge demand that many of them have for this type of funding,” said L. Robin Cardozo, Chief Executive Officer, OTF.

OTF is one of the few capital funders in Ontario. The Foundation awarded more than $160 million in 4,200 capital grants through its Community Grants and Province-Wide programs between April 1999 and March 2007. OTF capital funding supports a wide array of projects that improve Ontario’s places and spaces.

Ontario’s spring 2007 budget boosted OTF funding to $105 million from $100 million as the first phase of a 20 per cent annual increase. Raising the maximum amount available for capital grants is one of the new strategic directions that the Foundation is undertaking as a result of this increase.

This year, the Foundation celebrates 25 years of strengthening communities. OTF grants support the remarkable work of volunteer organizations throughout this great province of ours. By increasing the maximum amount available for capital grants OTF is better able to meet the capital needs of many organizations across Ontario.
