African-Canadian Association of Waterloo Region and Area
$65,000 over 28 months to expand, strengthen and recruit volunteers for this homework club for African-Canadian students. The program will help students acquire the knowledge and self-esteem to perform academically and complete their education.

Cambridge & District Humane Society
$4,100 over one year to purchase mobile computer equipment. This will help volunteer assistants provide education about pet care and responsible pet ownership at community summer camps and high schools.

Cambridge Highland Games
$22,000 over two years to expand the pipe band competition and attract higher-quality entertainers. These improvements will help draw a wider audience, enhancing the viability of the games and improving their self-reliance and sustainability.

Cara's Hope Maternity Home Trust
$35,000 over one year to design a volunteer management and training program to enhance supportive programs to young teenage parents in Cambridge.

Corporation of the Township of Woolwich
$75,000 over one year to install a hydraulic elevator and make related modifications. These upgrades will improve access opportunities for residents and visitors of all abilities to the Elmira Public Library.

Dufferin Youth Shelter o/a CHOICES Youth Shelter
$47,900 over one year for an internal review of current service-delivery programs and operations. Consultations will be conducted with community partners on strategic directions and a program for youth at risk in Orangeville will also be provided.

Elmira & District Curling Club
$28,500 over six months to purchase upgraded equipment that will improve the safety and energy efficiency of the facility. This will enhance the club’s ability to provide physical activity and recreational programs for people of all abilities.

Elora-Fergus Ringette Association c/o Ontario Ringette Association
$27,600 over three years to provide player development clinics that will enhance power skating and goaltending skills. These programs will lead to a more satisfying sports experience for children and youth in the Elora-Fergus area.

Foodlink Waterloo Region Inc.
$162,500 over three years for program, materials and administration costs. The organization will then be able to continue linking regional food consumers with local farmers, helping to ensure the continuation of a sustainable local food system.

Guelph and District Multicultural Centre Inc.
$36,500 over six months to conduct an operational review of this centre, which will help enhance its organizational effectiveness and responsiveness and determine the future direction of programs.

Guelph Soccer Club Inc.
$83,000 over three years to establish an integrated volunteer development program. The club will then be better able to respond effectively to increased player registration for a new indoor soccer program in the Centennial Community Athletics Centre.

The Healing of the Seven Generations
$122,500 over two years to support and evaluate operations at this healing program for survivors of the residential schools who have relocated to the Waterloo Region. Program delivery will be improved and future strategic directions set.

Kids 'n' Dad Shared Support
$70,000 over two years for a part-time co-ordinator. Service delivery and organizational infrastructure will be strengthened to better support fathers’ and grandparents’ involvement in children’s lives where it is otherwise absent due to separation.

Leadership Waterloo Region
$57,100 over one year for an in-depth community impact study to enhance organizational effectiveness as it relates to community needs for leadership abilities and competencies.

Nota Bene Period Orchestra
$34,000 over three years for administrative support. This will help raise the orchestra’s profile in the community, bringing high-quality performances to the public and especially to young people.

OpenWorks School of Building
$74,800 over one year to help establish this innovative educational and training program in building construction for youth at risk and unemployed people in Waterloo Region.

Reduce the Juice Project
$150,000 over two years for the resources to deliver this energy conservation project. Knowledge will be built and applied to youth-led energy conservation projects across the Waterloo, Dufferin and Wellington schools and communities.

Relationship, Sexuality and Safety Education Network of Wellington-Dufferin c/o Family Counselling and Support Services Guelph Wellington
$55,900 over 18 months to research best practices of safe sexual relationships and train the teachers, staff, parents and caregivers of children with developmental disabilities or autism.

Rural Wellington Transportation Group c/o Centre Wellington Resource Group
$83,800 over 18 months to develop a model for a co-ordinated, community-wide, rural volunteer transportation service. Low-income individuals, seniors, homeless and unemployed people will have better support and fewer barriers to obtaining services.

Stanley Park Community Association
$4,500 over one year to purchase computer equipment for the association’s new office. Volunteers will be trained in its use, ensuring better access to information and consistent, accountable records for the over 90 recreational programs offered.

Stonehenge Therapeutic Community
$17,800 over six months to conduct an assessment of the group’s operations and systems. Results will help set a more responsive service delivery system for underserved people with addictions to alcohol or drugs in Waterloo and Wellington Counties.

Victim Services Wellington
$45,000 over 18 months to develop strategic marketing and communications plans. These will help strengthen the organization's volunteer program and increase awareness of their services.

Waterloo Region Shares c/o The Food Bank of Waterloo Region
$68,600 over two years for program costs and infrastructure support for this emergency food-distribution system. Efficiency and effectiveness will then improve, smoothing operations through 50 agencies and more than 100 food programs and services.

Alliance for a Grand Community c/o Waterloo Arts Council
$162,500 over three years for a collaborative of nine regional art organizations to undertake initiatives and strategies that lead to sharing best practices and expertise, peer mentoring and increased public awareness of the art sector’s contribution.

Grand Music Incorporated
$13,000 over six months to hire an administrator for the Grand River Baroque Festival in Waterloo region, which will support the initial transition from a volunteer-driven event to one that is professionally managed.

Guelph Youth Basketball Association
$46,700 over one year to offer training and purchase equipment for a newly amalgamated basketball league and to expand physical activity opportunities for children and youth.

Junior Achievement of The Waterloo Region Inc.
$90,000 over three years to expand two new programs that were piloted in Waterloo Region last year for Grade 4 and Grade 6 classes. The aim is to reach 1,500 students every year to develop job-readiness skills.

KidsAbility Centre for Child Development
$119,700 over two years to develop an innovative community-based transition system, which will help teens with physical disabilities gain access to agencies offering adult services in Waterloo Region.

Kitchener-Waterloo Woodworking and Craft Centre
$52,100 over one year to purchase machinery and safety equipment for a woodworking and craft centre, which will provide recreational opportunities for local seniors.

Kitchener-Waterloo Young Women's Christian Association
$75,000 over one year to improve the building's safety and security systems for 700 women and their children who are homeless, and to offer safer services for victims of domestic violence.

Palmerston Curling Club
$31,900 to improve the facility and purchase new equipment, which will improve the quality of the ice surface and increase the participation of youth and adults in this physical activity program.

Paradise and District Lions Club
$40,000 toward the overall cost of upgrading the play equipment and surrounding area in St. Clements Park and provide a safer environment to meet the physical activity needs of this growing community.

Pilot Test Environmental Monitoring c/o Centre for Community Mapping (COMAP)
$96,000 over two years to strengthen the organization’s capacity and infrastructure and complete testing of a data-based system in Waterloo Region that helps government and environmental organizations track efficiency, delivery and compliance.

Residential Energy Efficiency Project (REEP)
$140,000 over two years to assist the organization in strengthening its capacity to provide citizens in Waterloo Region with tools for sustainable resource use, energy conservation and efficiency, and renewable applications.

Royal Canadian Legion - Arthur Branch 226
$75,000 over one year toward the overall cost of renovations and roof repairs, which will make this hall accessible to people of all abilities, safer and more energy efficient.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275
$75,000 toward the overall cost of installing a new roof and replacing the heating/cooling unit, ensuring a safer, more accessible environment for members, community and seniors recreational functions in Fergus.

Royal Canadian Legion Shelburne (Ont. No. 220) Branch
$75,000 toward the overall cost of replacing the hall’s roof, ensuring a safer environment for over 55,000 people who attend member and community functions annually.

Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries
$21,000 over one year to establish a network and process for the local not-for-profit sector to share best practices and new ways of thinking and learning that will enhance organizational and community responsiveness.

Waterloo County & Area Quilt Festival
$70,000 over two years to assist the festival through a transition period as it implements and tests a new festival venue and delivery model for the future.

Waterloo Region Community Support Services Merger c/o Kitchener-Waterloo Friendship Group for Seniors
$66,500 over one year for a business-development consultant to help four community support-service agencies to successfully merge operations.

Wired World
$96,100 over 18 months to improve and strengthen operations, staff development and volunteer management and recruitment, so that the radio station can maintain its commitment to high-quality and distinctive programming in Waterloo Region.

$32,000 over one year to hire a co-ordinator who will organize social and recreational activities for Francophone youth in the region, and support a strategic plan and needs assessment initiative for this new organization.

Business & Education Partnership of Waterloo Region
$84,000 over two years to build the organization’s capacity, which will ensure ongoing improvement of program quality, and develop and apply best practices and efficiencies to strategic planning, board governance and community partnering.

The Collaborative for Non Profit Enhancement c/o United Way Kitchener - Waterloo and Area
$150,000 over two years to build a collaborative vision for the voluntary sector in the community. From there, an action plan will be created to test models and gain applied experience in strengthening the effectiveness of the not-for-profit sector.

The Food Bank of Waterloo Region
$75,000 over 10 months towards the overall cost of replacing the roof on the food distribution warehouse, enabling the agency to provide safe and healthy emergency food to 65 member agencies serving 25,000 low-income people annually in the region.

Give Yourself Credit c/o Family and Children's Services of Guelph and Wellington County
$113,500 over two years to design and deliver Give Yourself Credit, an alternative educational program for high-school youth who are experiencing barriers to completing their education.

Grand River Mustangs Girls Hockey Incorporated
$70,100 over two years to purchase equipment and offer training to develop a girls minor hockey program in the Elora, Fergus, Belwood, Arthur, Alma, Salem and Poneme communities and expand opportunities for girls’ involvement in physical activity.

Headwaters Community Trails and Greenways Alliance c/o Town of Mono
$62,500 over one year to engage residents of Mono and south Dufferin County in developing, managing and enjoying a network of trails and natural greenways connecting with the Island Lake Conservation Area and Headwaters regional trails systems.

Headwaters Healthy Wetlands Project Collaborative c/o Ducks Unlimited Canada
$124,000 over three years to expand the healthy wetland stewardship program to farmers and rural landowners. This will foster wetland conservation and restoration in the Dundalk groundwater recharge area, a source of five major Ontario river systems. (An additional grant of $30,500 in Grey-Bruce-Huron-Perth will support this initiative.)

Highland Rugby Club
$75,000 over one year to complete upgrades to a clubhouse used by rugby, soccer and baseball players, enabling increased physical activity programs and training of volunteers in the Fergus community.

The Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association
$48,700 over one year to develop a marketing project that will promote heritage towns and villages and an arts network in the Calendon-Orangeville and Mono area, benefiting the local tourism industry, communities and residents.

Interfaith Community Counselling Centre
$49,000 over two years to acquire the expertise to conduct an organizational review, revise strategic directions and create action strategies that will provide better services to the New Hamburg community.

Kitchener-Waterloo Fastball Promotions Inc.
$15,200 over six months to purchase equipment that will be used by physical activity programs and to organize fastball clinics. This will help to increase the skills of children and youth involved in sports.

Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre
$31,600 over one year to design and test the feasibility of a partnering program that will match local professionals with unemployed new Canadians, improving their employability.

Puslinch Lake Conservation Association
$50,000 over one year toward the dredging and site preparation for the restoration of Puslinch Lake, an important part of the ecosystem for Wellington and Waterloo counties.

ROOF (Reaching Our Outdoor Friends)
$75,000 over one year for transitional resources to maintain outreach services and programs for youth at risk in Waterloo Region, enabling the organization to recover from unexpected setbacks, re-establish itself and become more financially viable.

Social Purchasing Portal c/o Opportunities Waterloo Region
$207,100 over three years to develop and implement a social purchasing portal, an innovative on-line database tool that builds and strengthens relationships between the not-for-profit and business sectors and increases employment opportunities.

Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute
$10,000 over one year to produce a video, strengthening the organization's ability to promote attendance at the summer institute in Waterloo and increasing community awareness of this organization that promotes the love of music.

Suicide Resource Group Wellington-Dufferin c/o Canadian Mental Health Association Wellington-Dufferin Branch
$94,500 over three years to build on Youth Talk, a successful pilot initiative. Youth Talk co-ordinates, trains and establishes leadership teams and projects to promote dialogue in schools about suicide and its prevention using various art forms.

Sunrise Cricket Club
$23,000 over one year to contract a coach and obtain proper equipment that will provide safer playing and team training sessions in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Sweet Adelines International Grand Harmony Chapter
$13,800 over six months to purchase new risers and sound equipment in order to sustain a healthy arts community for people of all ages and abilities, and offer free and affordable performances to the public in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

Victim Services of Waterloo Region
$92,300 over three years to pilot, evaluate and develop best practices for the Domestic Violence Emergency Response System, and to build ACCESS, a clearinghouse of community resources and self-help literature for victims of crime and tragedy.

Waterloo Tennis Club Inc.
$65,000 over one year to upgrade the outdoor tennis courts and purchase equipment in order to provide opportunities for more people to engage in physical activity and to improve the operations of the organization.

Woolwich Cardinals Gymnastics Club Inc.
$45,000 over two years to strengthen the capacity of the organization and support the agency while it expands participation in the sport in the Elmira area and increases the skills of its volunteers.

The Working Centre
$70,900 over six months toward the overall cost of installing a lift and completing the interior and exterior renovations to the 97 Victoria Street community centre in Kitchener, which will provide services to populations at risk.
