$25,000 over one year to purchase an environmentally friendly furnace and heating system, enabling the centre to continue providing cultural programming for people of all ages and abilities in the community.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Patricia Region
$75,000 over three years to build the capacity of the organization, which will increase its effectiveness and ability to provide enhanced mentoring programs and services for children and their families in the Dryden and Sioux Lookout areas.

Dryden Dolphins Swim Club
$20,800 over one year to purchase swimming equipment, which will enable the club to attract more members and continue offering physical fitness activity for youth in the community.

Family Services Thunder Bay
$91,000 over two years to strengthen the capacity of the organization to earn revenue while continuing to provide family and credit counselling programs and services to low-income individuals, families and youth in the community.

Finn Fling 06 for Children & Youth c/o Thunder Bay Finnish Language School
$6,300 over one year to plan and implement an international Finnish festival, which will provide cultural and recreational activities for children and youth, and encourage participation in Finnish cultural and heritage events in the future.

John Howard Society of Thunder Bay
$141,000 over two years to provide transitional housing for ex-offenders and help in their successful reintegration as contributing members of the community.

Kingfisher Lake Socio-Economic Development Corporation
$26,800 over one year to purchase furniture and equipment for the new community centre, which will increase participation in cultural programs, activities and events by people of all ages and abilities.

Mended Hearts
$9,800 over one year to develop marketing materials and provide training, which will build the volunteer capacity of the organization and strengthen the group's ability to promote heart disease awareness and programs in Thunder Bay.

The Pictograph Gallery (Atikokan)
$10,000 over one year to renovate the facility and purchase equipment that will enable the organization to continue providing visual art exhibits and programming to people of all ages and abilities in the community.

Stanjikoming First Nation
$12,000 over one year to purchase sports and fitness equipment and upgrade the outdoor rink facilities, which will help increase participation in fitness and sports activities by people of all ages in this community near Fort Frances.

Step Risers Project c/o Sounds of Superior Chorus
$9,900 over one year to purchase portable risers and equipment that will improve safety and enable chorus groups to continue providing barbershop musical programming for people of all ages and abilities in Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay Multicultural Association
$29,500 over one year to install a new furnace and heating system in the association’s heritage facility, enabling it to continue providing cultural programming and settlement-assistance services for people of all ages and abilities in the community.

Township of Atikokan
$14,500 over one year to purchase equipment, materials and furnishings for the library, which will help improve access to programs and services for people of all ages and abilities in the community.

Women's Place Kenora
$35,000 over one year to help fund the Young Women Real Power Camp program and hire staff to deliver it. The program provides at-risk girls aged 12 to18 years with skills that help foster self-confidence and a positive self-image.

$7,200 over one year to purchase equipment that will facilitate year-round training for youth and adults involved in the sport of cross country skiing in Thunder Bay.

Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout
$50,800 over one year to upgrade the community's only recreation and fitness centre, making it more accessible especially to seniors and people with disabilities.

Corporation of the Town of Fort Frances
$25,000 over one year to promote literacy among elementary school children and teens by providing tutoring and homework help programs at the library.

Corporation of the Town of Rainy River
$11,000 over one year for furniture and equipment to improve the children's section of the library, making it a safer and more enjoyable environment for children and families in the community.

Corporation of the Township of Emo
$29,000 over one year to purchase playground equipment, which will help provide social and recreational opportunities for children in the community.

Corporation of the Township of Oliver Paipoonge
$50,200 over one year for renovations to the Nor-West Arena that will improve its safety, enabling the community to continue hosting tournaments and offering hockey programs and activities to children, youth and adults in the region.

Corporation of the Township of Terrace Bay
$11,000 over six months to purchase and install new shelving in the library, which will create spacious, safer and barrier-free access for all patrons.

EcoSuperior Environmental Programs
$48,000 over one year to improve the effectiveness of the organization through a comprehensive strategic planning process, which will help increase the involvement of the Thunder Bay community in environmental initiatives.

Ignace Bowling Club
$75,000 over one year to add two five-pin bowling lanes to the facility, doubling the club's capacity and enabling it to accommodate more organized leagues, special events and regional tournaments.

Lappe Nordic Ski Club
$32,500 over one year to rent facilities and equipment and provide general support to host the National Cross Country Ski Championships in Thunder Bay in March 2006.

Manitouwadge Figure Skating Club
$25,000 over one year for assistance with club operations to improve coaching and volunteer development and continue providing skating programs to children and youth in the community.

Muskrat Dam First Nation
$60,000 over one year to purchase a dasherboard system for an outdoor ice rink that can be utilized year round for sports, cultural events and social gatherings.

Northwestern Ontario Literacy Network c/o Literacy Northwest
$20,000 over six months to support a literacy network conference to help improve the skills of adult learners and provide partnership opportunities for literacy and employment providers in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.

PARO: Centre for Women's Enterprises
$182,000 over three years for economic support programs to help women living in small communities in the Northwest region who are struggling to attain and/or maintain financial independence.

Port Arthur Curling & Athletic Club
$75,000 over one year to replace essential equipment and allow the century-old curling club to continue providing recreational and sports activities for people of all ages.

Thunder Bay District Fish & Game Association Inc.
$25,000 over one year to purchase and install equipment for an indoor shooting range and continue offering programs to people of all ages and abilities.

Thunder Bay Figure Skating Club
$19,200 over one year for equipment to enhance and improve the figure skating program for children and youth in the community.

Le Centre d'alphabétisation Alpha Thunder Bay Inc.
$53,000 over one year for Ensemble nous grandissons, a literacy program that encourages Francophone parents to work with their pre-school children to expose them to spoken and written French, thereby strengthening their commitment to their language.

City of Dryden
$25,000 over one year to equip and install a skateboard park that will provide a safe and challenging sport environment for children and youth in the community.

Elizabeth Fry Society of Northwestern Ontario
$48,000 over one year to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to assist with the delivery of services for the rehabilitation of women in conflict with the law in the Thunder Bay area.

Emo Meals on Wheels Inc.
$45,000 over one year to purchase a Handi-Transit vehicle, which will provide accessible transportation for people with disabilities and senior citizens in four neighbouring rural communities in the Emo area.

Equay-wuk (Women's Group) Inc.
$51,000 over 10 months to provide cross-cultural training and resource materials to health care providers delivering services to people in 30 remote First Nation communities.

Fort William Curling and Athletic Club
$35,000 over one year for equipment to improve the curling club and increase its capacity to host major national curling events for participants of all ages.

Kenogamisis Recreation Corporation
$50,000 over one year for equipment to enable the organization to provide recreational opportunities for people of all ages in the Geraldton community and region.

Kenora Health Providers Group c/o Lake of the Woods Child Development Centre
$44,000 over two years to encourage residents of all ages to participate in health and fitness activities in order to increase overall wellness in the community.

Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts
$43,000 over one year to purchase a grand piano for use at the annual music festival, for piano exams and for community performances featuring visiting and local musicians from the Thunder Bay area.

Lakehead Search and Rescue Unit Inc.
$10,000 over nine months to purchase equipment, which will enhance a volunteer service that provides valuable search-and-rescue assistance to the Thunder Bay community and region.

Ne-Chee Friendship Centre
$50,000 over one year for repairs to the existing facility, creating a safer and healthier environment for Aboriginal participants of all ages in Kenora and 10 neighbouring First Nation communities.

Our Kids Count of Thunder Bay Inc.
$91,400 over three years to implement a volunteer management program to recruit, train and monitor volunteers in support of programs and services for low income families with children aged 6 and under in Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay Triathlon
$69,400 over six months for the purchase of timing equipment to be used by eight partner organizations for local, regional, provincial and national sporting events for participants of all ages.

The Underground Gym & Youth Centre Inc.
$25,000 over one year for renovations to the facility, providing a safer venue that will encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles for youth at risk in the community.

United Way/Lakehead Social Planning Council/211 Steering Committee c/o United Way of Thunder Bay
$110,000 over two years for the development of a resource plan and implementation strategy to ensure the viability of 211 services, the three-digit number that facilitates access to community information and referrals in Thunder Bay and the region.

Wauzhushk Onigum Nation
$8,000 over one year to purchase equipment to support a traditional powwow and other special events in the Kenora area that celebrate and reaffirm Aboriginal cultural values and customs.
