Cambridge Volunteer Bureau $28,700 over one year to assess, review and recommend ways that not-for-profit organizations can encourage volunteerism among individuals who work shifts, unusual hours or non-traditional workweeks. This will increase volunteerism in the community.
Canadian National Institute for the Blind Waterloo-Wellington District c/o Canadian National Institute for the Blind $38,000 over one year to obtain portable signage and retain technical staff, which will increase visibility, accessibility and awareness of technical aids for people with low vision in the Waterloo Region.
Centre Dufferin New Horizon's Club 972 c/o The United Senior Citizens of Ontario $10,000 over one year to purchase kitchen equipment and furniture for the club building, enabling more seniors in the Shelburne community to participate in social and recreational activities.
The Children's Foundation of Guelph & Wellington $28,800 over one year to conduct an operational review of all current practices. This will establish future targets, strategies, plans, policies, material requirements and funding options, leading to better service provision for the community.
Clyde & Scott's Women's Institute Hall Renovation Project c/o Sheffield Lions Club Inc. $30,800 over one year to refurbish the interior and replace the roof of an old schoolhouse used as a community centre in the rural area of North Dumfries. This will improve accessibility and operating efficiency for greater use by the community.
Community Mental Health Clinic, Fergus Branch $11,400 over one year to install lighting, fencing and a storage shed for the expansion of a garden project in the community. This will allow more garden plots to be developed, providing social and life skill opportunities for clients.
Constitution Park Redevelopment Committee c/o Optimist Club of New Hamburg $60,000 over six months to install new playground equipment, lighting and a walkway in the park. This will improve safety and provide healthy active recreation that benefits children and young people in the broader community.
Elora Centre for the Arts $57,000 over 18 months to conduct an operational review and develop a marketing strategy that will strengthen the centre’s strategic directions, attract volunteers and help promote the organization as a viable arts centre for the Centre Wellington area.
The Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games $71,500 over three years for administrative support and marketing materials to strengthen the organization and better promote the festival, particularly this year’s 60th anniversary celebration.
Guelph Ringette Association $15,000 over one year to purchase equipment and assess material needs for the future. This will support the development of the sport of ringette in the community and encourage healthy physical activity for children.
Guelph Services for the Autistic $10,200 over six months to organize and conduct a one-day conference on creative ways to support adults in the community who are vulnerable due to cognitive and sensory impairments, physical and mental health disabilities, aging and other challenges.
Kitchener Blues Community Inc. $92,000 over 18 months to strengthen its infrastructure and support its transition from a very successful volunteer-driven festival to a not-for-profit organization that is self-sustaining.
Kitchener Waterloo Philharmonic Choir $77,200 over two years to develop a marketing strategy and related tools to promote the organization and attract subscribers. This will increase the size and diversity of the audience, attract donors and strengthen the choir’s financial sustainability.
Meals on Wheels of Kitchener-Waterloo $46,000 over one year to develop and implement a region-wide marketing campaign to improve public awareness of services. This will increase collaboration and joint programming, providing a better coordinated system to meet growing needs.
Ontario Early Years Centre - Guelph and Wellington County c/o Guelph Community Health Centre $15,200 over one year to develop an arts program. This will include workshops, materials, resources and training for volunteers and staff to provide children with more exposure to art, music and puppetry.
Orangeville Trail Extension c/o The Optimist Club of Orangeville $54,900 over one year to construct an accessible trail, which will provide significant health, recreational, social and economic benefits to the residents of the community.
Power Up Renewable Energy Co-operative $62,300 over 18 months to develop five- and ten-year strategy plans for a community-based energy supply system for Dufferin County. These will include low-impact, alternative energy- generation options and public education about energy conservation.
The Rotary Club of Orangeville $66,400 over one year to purchase materials and construct a skateboard park, commemorating 100 years of the organization’s service to the community. This will provide children and youth with more access to healthy physical and social activity.
Rotary Clubs of Cambridge, Ontario c/o Rotary Club of Cambridge (Preston-Hespeler) $12,300 to install signage and produce brochures and maps for the Dumfries Conservation Area. This will help increase awareness of the area and the need to protect and enhance one of the region's essential, ecological and recreational landscapes.
Shelburne District Agricultural Society $23,800 over one year to complete accessibility upgrades, purchase equipment, furniture and appliances for the society’s new building. This will complete it, making it ready for use by the public beginning in the spring of 2005.
Visual Art Alliance c/o Brush with Art $48,400 over 18 months to research and develop joint marketing plans for a visual arts collaborative. This will raise the profile of member groups, make better use of resources and volunteers and increase revenue over the long term.

Building Leaders, Increasing Health - Waterloo Region Peer Program Collaborative c/o Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre $100,700 over three years to increase the capacity of at-risk neighbourhoods in Waterloo Region to offer local peer-based developmental programs for seniors and youth.
Community Living Guelph Wellington (CLGW) $14,900 over one year to purchase Snoezelen equipment in order to provide multi-sensory therapy for people with intellectual disabilities and older adults in Minto, a rural community in Wellington County.
Drayton Theatres Inc. $75,000 over one year to equip a newly purchased community facility in St. Jacobs with technical sound and lighting equipment so that it can offer year-round theatrical performances.
Elora & District Minor Hockey Association $17,100 over one year to purchase goalie equipment, provide training for volunteers and offer hockey skills development opportunities to young people in and around Elora.
Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington $57,800 over two years to support resource development and marketing activities that will enable the organization to expand its credit counselling and debt-repayment services.
Focus for Ethnic Women, Waterloo Region Inc. $25,000 over one year for a comprehensive review of this organization for immigrant women to strengthen its programs and operational capacity.
Guelph Concert Band $17,200 over one year to purchase musical instruments that will be shared with other organizations so that a range of Guelph area community performances will be enhanced.
Habitat for Humanity c/o Waterloo Horticultural Society $11,000 over one year to support a collaborative initiative to create a public green space in downtown Waterloo that will benefit residents and tourists.
Harriston Lawn Bowling Club c/o Ontario Lawn Bowls Association $8,300 over one year to repair a community lawn bowling facility in Harriston and purchase equipment that will attract beginners to the sport.
The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation $107,500 over two years to enable the foundation to continue to build its capacity as a community leader in philanthropy and evaluate its impact.
Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre $65,000 over six months to support building renovations, which will enable it to offer more effective services to multicultural communities in the Waterloo Region.
Kitchener-Waterloo Rotary Centennial Committee c/o Kitchener-Waterloo Rotary Club Charitable Foundation $70,100 over one year to create a locally designed sculpture representing peace, which will serve as a focal point in the Rotary International Peace Park in Waterloo.
Run for Life Inc. $28,500 over 18 months to develop a business plan for this new community-based running and fitness organization located in Cambridge.
Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries $56,300 over 18 months to increase the agency's capacity to offer and market effective services to community organizations in the Waterloo Region.
Suicide Resource Group Wellington-Dufferin c/o Canadian Mental Health Association, Wellington-Dufferin $39,200 over one year to support a collaborative initiative to engage youth in delivering a play focusing on suicide prevention in high schools in order to foster peer support.
Town of Puslinch $54,500 over one year to construct a trail with interpretive signage for the public around a sensitive wetland area in Wellington County in order to protect groundwater and rare plant species.
Trustees of Oddfellows Hall Association of Orangeville $50,000 over one year to support renovations to the entrance and washrooms of this Orangeville community facility in order to make it accessible for people with physical disabilities.
Volunteer Action Centre of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area $49,700 over one year for an interactive web-based system that will provide enhanced services to Kitchener-Waterloo community organizations, volunteers and the public.

Catholic Family Counselling Centre (Region of Waterloo) $138,500 over two years to design and implement a program that provides community-based mentoring and tutoring to increase the academic performance of students in the Mill-Courtland neighbourhood of Kitchener.
Corporation of the Township of East Luther Grand Valley $50,500 over one year to help replace the roof of the Grand Valley and District Community Centre, which will allow the facility to continue offering affordable and accessible recreational programs to residents in the surrounding communities.
Elora Community Theatre $29,500 over two years to assist the theatre group in reviewing its operations and developing plans for increasing attendance and attracting and training more volunteers over the next three to five years.
Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association $6,700 over one year to increase the administrative effectiveness of the organization through the purchase of office equipment and software, which will be shared with other minor sports groups in the community when availability permits.
Foodlink Waterloo Region Inc $123,800 over two years to develop a business plan for the organization over the next five years that will improve consumer access to local farm-direct food products, creating a more sustainable, community-based food system in Waterloo Region.
Future of the Arts in the Hills of Headwaters Region c/o The Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association $14,000 over 10 months to assist this collaboration of the local arts community in developing a plan for collaborative marketing, communications and business development for the arts in Caledon, Erin, Orangeville, Shelburne, Mono and Dufferin County.
Guelph Chamber Orchestra $40,000 over two years to recruit more volunteers, increase audiences and raise the profile of this semi-professional orchestra, which conducts public concerts, exhibitions and educational forums.
Kitchener Downtown Street Outreach c/o The Working Centre $146,000 over three years to provide street outreach services in downtown Kitchener to support people in distress, promote acceptable standards of civic behaviour and help people access the social services.
Linwood and District Lions Club $70,400 over one year to install new lighting and playground equipment at Linwood Park and Community Centre to increase recreational opportunities for children and youth in the community.
The People's Car Co-operative Inc. $35,700 over 20 months to increase membership in the Waterloo Region co-op by establishing new incentives including interest-free Transportation Bank loans that allow low-income earners to join, a bike-share program and a member debenture structure.
Scholars' Green Project c/o 10,000 Trees Project $35,700 over one year to create a website and design interpretive signs for Veteran's Green, a part of a neighbourhood commemorative project to redevelop the Waterloo parkette and celebrate the historical significance of the area.
Shelburne Curling Club $50,500 over one year to purchase new refrigeration equipment to improve curling conditions at the club, providing opportunities for increased membership and more private and public rentals.
St. Jacobs Lions Club $50,000 over one year to help renovate the 30-year old facility to ensure the safety and comfort of the many local community groups who use this community centre.
Twin Cities Gymnastics & Judo Training Centre c/o Kitchener-Waterloo Gymnastics Club $75,000 over one year to help replace the roof of the building that is shared by the two Kitchener clubs, providing recreational programs for children and youth in the community.
Upper Credit Humane Society $77,500 over two years to help the Erin organization improve and enhance its volunteer program including recruitment, training and retention and to increase fundraising efforts to improve the long-term economic strength of the agency.
Waterloo-Wellington-Dufferin Study c/o Architectural Conservancy of Ontario $18,500 over six months to conduct a study that evaluates the costs of renovating heritage buildings and to present the findings with recommendations about the reuse of existing buildings and characteristics of successful projects.
Wellington County Learning Centre $64,200 over two years to assess and redesign a youth literacy program to increase literacy levels of children in public schools in North Wellington.
YMCA of Cambridge $169,300 over three years to strengthen the organizational capacity by designing a marketing and strategic plan for the newly developed youth centre serving young people aged 8 to 12.
