$25,000 over two years to enable this growing choir to purchase sheet music and risers and to travel to Elliot Lake to perform in a concert.

Algoma Sailing Club
$70,000 over one year for renovations that will make the facility safer and more accessible so that it will be a more attractive venue for community events in Sault Ste. Marie.

Algoma Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Centre (Breton House)
$23,600 over one year to make renovations to this centre which is used to help women recovering from addictions learn how to live without alcohol and drugs.

Algoma Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Service
$7,000 over one year to provide critical incident stress management training to volunteers in Sault Ste. Marie. This will promote volunteer retention and better prepare them to help victims of crime, tragic circumstances and disaster.

Allard Street Community Garden Collective c/o Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society
$20,000 over one year to establish a community garden that will provide access to garden plots for people who live in apartments to grow their own produce and enjoy the social, recreational and therapeutic benefits of gardening.

Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District
$62,000 over two years to deliver an in-home recreation therapy program to improve the quality of life for people affected by Alzheimer disease and related disorders.

Art Gallery of Algoma
$60,000 over three years to enable the gallery to continue to deliver an arts education program that benefits children and youth in the community.

Azilda Lions Club
$75,000 over one year to make the Lions Old Town Hall Community Centre accessible and more energy-efficient. Many groups that use this facility for social and recreational functions will benefit.

Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank
$107,000 over two years to increase the amount of food available for those in need, improve food storage and distribution and increase fundraising to meet the food security needs of the community.

Big Sisters Association of Sault Ste. Marie
$12,500 over one year to provide services and support to young girls from disadvantaged homes in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

Big Sisters of Sudbury and District
$105,000 over three years to provide services and support to young girls from disadvantaged homes in the Sudbury area.

Camp Wakonda of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore
$25,000 over three months for renovations to the kitchen and washroom facilities. This Camp is located at McCarrel Lake near Sault Ste.Marie and offers a recreational experience to youths aged 7 to 14.

Caruso Club of Sudbury and District
$75,000 over one year to rebuild the bridge from the parking lot to the upper hall, making the entrance to this popular facility accessible and safe for seniors, people with disabilities and other members of the community.

Centre régional de loisirs culturels Inc.
$25,000 to purchase sound, lighting and stage equipment for the centre which will enable many community groups in Kapuskasing to enhance their arts presentations and events.

Children's Rehabilitation Centre - Algoma
$75,000 over one year to make renovations to the centre in Sault Ste. Marie so that adolescents with physical disabilities can receive pre-vocational assessment and training helping them get a job or post-secondary education.

Club Âge d'Or de la Vallée
$37,000 over three years to help members of the Francophone community in Sudbury District understand and manage life processes such as declining physical and mental health, loss of independence and bereavement.

Club de l'âge d'or de Smooth Rock Falls Golden Age Club
$45,000 over one year to renovate the community centre in Smooth Rock Falls, including upgrades to the heating system.

Club de théâtre, culture et loisirs de Black-River Matheson
$21,600 over one year to provide equipment and supplies required for the presentation of plays and recreational activities at various entertainment venues, increasing tourism in the area.

Community Offering Police Support
$10,000 over one year to construct ramps for a skateboard park in Cochrane and provide a safe recreational environment for area youth.

Copper Cliff Curling Club
$25,000 to complete renovations to this popular curling club in Copper Cliff, including repairing the roof, upgrading the women’s locker room, replacing carpeting and painting the facility.

Corporation of the Town of Blind River
$11,000 to purchase equipment that will be used to upgrade the facilities of the Blind River Tennis Club and the Huron Pines Golf and Country Club. Area residents and tourists will benefit.

Corporation of the Town of Gore Bay
$16,500 over six months to repair the roof of the Gore Bay Museum and provide treatment to correct a past bat infestation and prevent future bat re-infestations. The initiative will preserve local heritage and attract tourists to the area.

Corporation of the Township of Nairn and Hyman
$51,000 over six months to purchase playground equipment and make improvements to the parking area of a community centre, and to install lighting and new bleachers at a ball field serving the Nairn and Hyman communities.

Credit Counselling Service of Sault Ste. Marie and District
$100,000 over three years to deliver a preventative education program on money and debt management to specific groups, including students, problem gamblers and persons with low income.

Dalriada Scottish Dancers
$13,800 over one year to purchase dance outfits, practice swords and a portable stereo sound system. This group participates in a wide variety of events throughout Timmins and the surrounding area.

Festival de l'orignal c/o Centre de consultation pour l'embauche des jeunes Inc.
$25,000 over one year to help host Le Festival de l'orignal in the town of Hearst. The project will establish the Francophone festival as an annual cultural, social and sports event.

Hope is Dawning (c/o The Good Samaritan Inn)
$60,000 over one year to provide disadvantaged members of the South Porcupine community with emergency shelter, food bank and drop-in services and to purchase kitchen equipment for the facility.

Independent Living Resource Centre Corp.
$75,000 over one year to enable people with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in community life by supporting the operations of an independent living resource centre in Sudbury.

Kapuskasing Economic Development Team
$100,000 over two years to establish a special events resource centre that will assist organizations throughout the Kapuskasing region in staging successful festivals and events.

Kapuskasing Golf Club
$25,000 over one year to purchase a new tractor in order to improve the upkeep and condition of the golf greens and reduce maintenance and repair expenses.

Kapuskasing Nordic Ski Club
$8,000 over eight months to enable the club to purchase a new snowmobile which will be used to pull the safety sleigh and transport individuals needing medical attention for the benefit of the whole community.

Kapuskasing Public Library
$6,900 over six months to upgrade the children's collection in both French and English languages.

KidSport Timminsc/o Sport Alliance of Ontario
$65,000 over two years to assist with the start-up and administration of an organization that enables children from low-income families to participate in their chosen sport.

Kiwanis Music Festival of Sudbury
$46,000 over six months to purchase a new grand piano and to service five other grand pianos in the community for use in performances at the festival and other community concerts.

Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury
$100,000 over three years to provide services and support to people with learning disabilities. The project will establish an office and resource library and promote awareness of learning disabilities in the community.

Les Scouts du District de Timmins
$23,000 over one year to conduct a recruitment campaign aimed at increasing the number of scout leaders and scouts participating in programs offered in the district of Timmins, and the towns of Black-River Matheson, Chapleau and Cochrane.

Manitoulin Field Renewal Project c/o Rotary Club of Gore Bay
$25,000 over one year to serve the needs of soccer players on Manitoulin Island by renovating the island’s only soccer field and ensuring that it meets provincial standards.

Manitoulin Island Country Club
$25,000 over five months to purchase a new fairway mower to improve the quality of this not-for-profit community golf course in Gore Bay, an important recreational facility for residents and tourists on Manitoulin Island.

Matheson & District Agricultural Society
$61,800 over six months for renovations to make the agricultural society's hall more functional and accessible. The venue is used for numerous social and recreational activities by the residents of Matheson and surrounding communities.

Moonbeam Economic Development Corporation
$25,000 over one year to help develop a 30-km multi-use trail that will link Moonbeam to the Remi Lake Cottage area, Rene Brunelle Ontario Park and the Twin Lakes Camping area, attracting tourists and encouraging outdoor activities for residents.

Municipality of French River
$13,500 over six months for equipment and renovations to a park in Alban, including repairs to swings and the development of a skateboard area.

Myths and Mirrors Community Arts Incorporated
$150,000 over two years to work with First Nations and francophone communities in Sudbury in order to develop community art projects based on the theme “Belonging: inclusion in a caring community”.

National Chess Tournament c/o Rotary Club of Kapuskasing
$21,300 over one year to host two national chess tournaments in Kapuskasing in 2004. The National Youth Chess Championships and the Canadian Open Chess Tournament will benefit the local business community and increase tourism.

Northern Sliders Sledge Hockey Association
$25,000 over two years to expand a sledge hockey program in Sudbury to people with disabilities over the age of 16 years.

Providence Bay Curling Club
$18,600 over three months to sandblast, seal and recoat the exterior of the curling rink to ensure its structural integrity and continued operation.

Rainbow Country Recreation and Development Association
$56,000 over one year to renovate the community centre to make the entrance and building accessible. This facility is used for numerous social and recreational activities by residents of Whitefish Falls, Willisville and Red Deer Village.

Rainbow Routes Association
$100,000 over two years to develop, maintain and market trails in the City of Greater Sudbury. The initiative will enhance the quality of life of residents and attract tourists to the area.

Rémi Ski Club
$25,000 over one year for the purchase of a snow groomer, to keep skiing safe and enjoyable and to build a terrain park, which will offer a wider range of skiing and snowboarding activities to the community and to tourists.

Royal Canadian Legion District 'H'
$25,000 over 10 months to promote and support the 2004 National Youth Camp in Sudbury. The project will support track and field events for 450 athletes aged 12 to 17 years and 40 coaches and chaperones.

Royal Canadian Legion, Blind River Branch 189
$66,800 over one year to purchase equipment and make improvements to this popular community facility in Blind River, including upgrades to improve accessibility for people with limited mobility.

Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. Fred Starr Branch 76
$43,200 over one year to make renovations to this Sudbury community facility, including modernizing the kitchen and installing automatic door openers to improve access to social activities for seniors and people with disabilities.

Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury a/s Centre FORA
$24,800 over six months to help host a French book fair in Sudbury for the Francophone and Francophile community of northeastern Ontario. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the four-day event.

Sault Amateur Soccer Association
$14,200 over one year to purchase uniforms and balls to support a soccer program for more than 450 high school students in Sault Ste. Marie.

Sault Ste. Marie Alcohol Recovery Home O/A Ken Brown Recovery Home
$12,800 over six months to install a wheelchair ramp and create accessible washrooms to provide a barrier-free facility at this residential addiction treatment centre for men.

Sault Ste. Marie Family YMCA
$75,000 over one year to retrofit the pool and install an overhead sling at the pool to improve accessibility for individuals with special needs.

Social Planning Council of the Sudbury Region
$9,500 over one year to establish a network for staff of social service agencies in the City of Greater Sudbury that will provide access to information and training through monthly workshops.

Stairlift Access Project Collaborative c/o Warren & District Lions Club
$40,000 over six months to install a chairlift and provide accessible washrooms on the second floor of the École St-Charles Borromée where the library and other community organizations are located.

Sudbury Bluesfest
$10,000 over one year to launch a Blues in the Schools Program in Sudbury. The project will provide an opportunity for approximately 2,000 students in Grades 5 to 11 to participate in workshops with blues musicians.

Sudbury Laurels Gymnastics Club
$100,100 over three years to promote the sport of gymnastics in the community in order to increase membership and expand the club’s competitive gymnastics program.

The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District
$57,800 over three years to increase fundraising, attract new volunteers and members and improve the council’s ability to enhance the quality of life in the community through promoting and fostering the arts.

The Local Services Board of Goulais and District
$14,600 over one year to install new rubberized flooring and increase safety during the skating season in the Captain Tilley Community Centre, which serves seven rural townships north of Sault Ste. Marie.

Thessalon and Area Rod and Gun Club
$24,800 over one year to set up an archery range and increase overall membership by attracting youth and women to the club.

Thessalon Community Curling Club
$50,000 over six months to replace antiquated ice-making equipment so that members of the community will continue to be able to enjoy the sport of curling.

Timmins Learning Centre Inc.
$105,000 over three years to establish the Homework Club, an after-school drop-in program that will enable elementary students to receive help in developing reading, writing, math and computers skills.

Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands Community Development Corporation
$12,500 over one year to erect signs at historical points of interest that will guide motorists and people taking a walking tour of Little Current and Sheguiandah. Tourists and residents will benefit.

Vincent Place Inc.
$100,000 over two years to support the operation of a shelter in Sault Ste. Marie that will provide short-term emergency accommodation for disadvantaged men in the community.

Young Leaders on Board c/o United Way/Centraide Sudbury and/et District
$75,400 over three years to recruit, train and mentor young adults as volunteers for leadership positions with not-for-profit organizations in the community.
