Amelia Rising/Crisis Centre of North Bay Group Services for Male Survivors c/o Amelia Rising Women's Collective $80,000 over two years to develop and implement group support services for male survivors of sexual abuse and assault.
Apollo Gymnastics Club $24,500 over one year to purchase three specialized circuits which will provide areas for formal physical play that specifically develops basic motor skills. This club offers both competitive and recreational gymnastic programs to area youth.
Big Sisters Association of North Bay Inc. $22,000 over one year to maintain and improve service standards, through workshops, education, training and networking with other Ontario Big Sister agencies.
Bonfield Golden Age Club $15,200 over one year for renovations to make the building a safe and accessible place for area seniors to meet and participate in social and recreational activities.
Bracebridge Community Policing Committee Inc. $50,000 over two years to support the Inmate Volunteer Program by providing funding assistance for supplies, equipment, promotion and coordination.
Canadian Diabetes Association, Camp Huronda $10,000 over three months to upgrade the interior of four cabins for doctors and nurses providing services at Camp Huronda.
Canadian Institute of Forestry, Algonquin Section $9,400 over three months to host a series of free public events at Nipissing University on September 30, which will engage the public on sustainable forestry practices.
Cobalt Historical Society $8,000 over one year for renovations that will enable this historical society to open a wheelchair-accessible storefront office in downtown Cobalt.
Country Roads Artisan Studio Tours $21,500 over nine months to design promotional material and establish an annual event in July that will attract tourists to the Blue Sky region.
Doreen Potts Health Centre $19,000 over two months to purchase an accessible boat to enable elders and those with mobility problems to increase their participation in programs and activities.
Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre $24,000 over eight months to mount a major children's theatre production in the North Bay Capitol Centre and promote Ontario arts curriculum to 4,000 students.
East Ferris Council No.6664 Service Club $25,000 over one year to develop a therapeutic nature trail at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Centre for use by residents and visitors for exercise, recreation and relaxation.
East Ferris Fitness Association $33,500 over three months to equip a community fitness centre which will enable more area residents to participate in programs that contribute to healthy lifestyles.
Elk Lake Eco Resource Centre Inc. $49,900 over one year to develop and implement a multi-faceted educational program on proper planning and management of our natural resources.
Georgian Nordic Ski & Canoe Club $12,000 over one year to upgrade the trails so that they can be used year round for snow-shoeing, bicycling, hiking and cross-country running. These trail improvements will provide enhanced recreational opportunities for area residents and tourists.
Golden Age Club d'âge d'or de Sturgeon Falls $17,400 over three months to repair the club’s roof, replace the windows, and enclose the steps to the entrance so that area seniors will be able to participate in activities in comfort and safety.
Gravenhurst Curling Club Ltd. $30,000 over four months to replace the club's leaking roof so that area residents will be able to continue to enjoy the sport of curling.
Gravenhurst Horticultural Society Inc. $1,700 over one year to expand the garden at the Gravenhurst Centennial Centre by planting hedging, shrubbery, and trees.
Gravenhurst Seniors Club $2,000 over three months to purchase a sound system that will enable the Club to expand musical activities for seniors.
Harvest Share Community Food Programs $23,200 over 10 months to explore the feasibility of developing an ongoing food redistribution network for the District of Parry Sound.
Kirkland Lake Boys & Girls Club $18,000 over one year to enable this youth organization to enhance its profile and programs in order to better serve the community.
Kirkland Lake Native Women's Support Group $25,000 over one year to increase the group's capacity by establishing a new office and developing a five-year strategic plan, including a strategy to coordinate and network with other groups.
Lake Nipissing Partners in Conservation $72,700 over10 months to promote the importance of reintroducing the rare Trumpeter Swan to the Callander Bay area of Lake Nipissing, and to market the area as a tourism destination for naturalists from across North America.
Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation $25,000 over one year to refurbish the Bigwin Steamboat for display to the public for educational and heritage awareness.
Lake of Bays Sailing Club Inc. $25,000 over one year to renovate the clubhouse in order to provide more space for teaching and boat repair.
Mattawa Area Youth Golf Association $24,800 over two years to increase youth participation in the sport of golf through youth-oriented marketing and youth-directed instruction.
Mattawa Historical Society $17,800 over one year to repair the roof of the Mattawa and District Museum which will safeguard artifacts, preserving the rich heritage of this community.
Muskoka Heritage Foundation $24,000 over one year to launch the work of the Muskoka Watershed Council through a number of initiatives that will improve and sustain Muskoka's watershed health.
Muskoka Pioneer Power Association $12,300 over one year to help this Bracebridge heritage organization restore a historical sawmill and purchase equipment and signs to attract more visitors.
Muskoka/Parry Sound Coordinated Sexual Assault Services $103,000 over two years to increase the safety of women through an educational project that provides information on how to prevent date rape.
New Liskeard Cubs Midget Hockey Club $15,000 over four months to publish a book to commemorate the 50 year history of the Cubs, an important part of the community and the north.
Nipissing Stage Company $84,000 over two years to raise the professional level of the stage company and increase the marketability of its summer season by engaging the services of five experienced guest artists.
North Bay Nordic Ski Club $12,500 over seven months to improve drainage and widen approximately 10 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and to create a short sprint trail. The initiative will benefit area skiers and attract tourists.
Park-To-Park Trail Association $90,100 over three years to support volunteers in the coordination and development of a year-round trail system linking Killbear and Algonquin Provincial Parks, celebrating the rich natural heritage of Muskoka, Parry Sound and Haliburton. An additional grant for $13,500 for the same project was also awarded to the Durham, Haliburton, Kawartha and Pine Ridge catchment area.
Parry Sound Dragon Boat Festival c/o Rotary Club of Parry Sound $22,500 over one year to purchase equipment for the annual Parry Sound Dragon Boat Festival, a major tourist attraction.
Pavilion Family Resource Centre $25,000 over six months to separate the Emergency Shelter from the Outreach and Resource Centre, increasing privacy and security for clients in crisis.
People for Equal Partnership in Mental Health $22,000 over one year to set up a support group for families with children with ADD and other related disorders.
Respect Team Program c/o Rotary Club of Huntsville $20,000 over one year to develop a parent education drop-in facility as part of the Respect Team Program in the Huntsville Public School.
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 310(Elk Lake) $22,700 over one year to help renovate this community facility and make washrooms accessible.
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 424(Bala) $19,000 over one year to upgrade this popular community facility by improving insulation, renovating the kitchen and making the washrooms accessible to people with disabilities.
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch, Branch 453(Powassan) $20,000 over three months to replace the hardwood floor in the banquet hall and entrance hall of this well-used community facility.
Sail Parry Sound Inc. $24,000 over one year to purchase two racing sailboats and one motorized coach boat in order to offer to youth the Canadian Yachting Association's Silver Sail Level 6 racing program in summer of 2002.
Seizure and Brain Injury Centre $7,000 over five months to organize an education/awareness campaign about epilepsy targeted at children.
South River-Machar Agricultural Society $18,500 over one year to carry out improvements to the fair grounds which are used for many community events throughout the year, including Winterfest, the Maple Syrup Festival and the Fall Fair.
Temagami Area Fish Involvement Program $8,200 over one year to carry out renovations to the Sherman Mine Road Rearing Pond to prevent leakages that have resulted in a decreased number of fingerlings.
Temagami Station Restoration Trust $24,800 over one year to install an elevator providing access to the mezzanine level of the historic train station, in order to increase programs and services for participants of all ages and abilities, and hold activities outside the tourist season.
Temiskaming Art Gallery/Musée des Beaux-Arts Temiskaming $24,600 over one year to offer the community a unique visual art experience through nine exhibitions and accompanying educational components geared to all ages.
Tri-Town Lacrosse Association Inc. $25,000 over two years to purchase equipment and implement a new program for youth to play lacrosse and coaches and referees to receive training.
The Volunteer Centre of the Blue Sky Region $60,000 over three years to expand services through satellite offices in the communities of West Nipissing and Mattawa, providing information on programs and volunteer opportunities.
Wahta Mohawks $10,000 over three months to host a powwow at the Iroquois Cranberry Marsh in October 2002.
Warriors of Hope Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat Racing Team $25,000 over one year to develop a marketing plan and strengthen training and coaching for this group celebrating survivors of breast cancer in the Nipissing area.
Wasi Cross Country Ski Club Inc. $20,000 over one year to purchase new trail grooming equipment and to complete major improvements to the trails that attract tourists to the area.
West Muskoka Chamber of Commerce $25,000 over two years to purchase a computer and support ongoing operations of this organization so that it can enhance awareness of the services it offers to permanent and seasonal residents.
West Nipissing Association for Community Living $12,000 over six months to carry out public information sessions that will increase the community s awareness and understanding of persons with disabilities.
West Parry Sound Association for Community Living $25,000 over one year to help people with disabilities design and implement a Lifestyle Plan to maximize their control over their own lives.
Whitestone Historical Society $7,500 over one year to produce a historic calendar, walking tour brochures and plaques to commemorate the history of the Dunchurch area.
York Professional Care & Education Inc. $18,800 over one year to enable the Hidden Bay Camp in Nobel to offer a leadership program to young people in the Parry Sound area, including disadvantaged youth. Funding will permit the installation of new washroom facilities and a “Challenge Ropes Course”.
