2310 Sault Ste. Marie Branch Army Cadet Corps $24,800 over one year to enhance the Cadet program by purchasing musical instruments for a drum and bugle band, and equipment for a biathlon program. The Cadet Corps provides youth with leadership training and opportunities for community service.
Algoma Arts Festival Association $100,000 over three years to develop and implement new marketing strategies to expand the festival's audience base.
Algoma Music Camp $71,800 over one year for renovations to operate a summer residential music camp on St. Joseph Island for children and youth.
The Ally Project c/o Children's Mental Health Services (Sudbury) $75,000 over nine months to pilot a youth leadership program in six schools to help prevent bullying and violence and to create safer and more inclusive schools.
Bandettes Drum & Bugle Corps $25,000 over four months to purchase new percussion equipment for an all-girl drum and bugle corps based in Sault Ste. Marie, enhancing the quality of the band’s sound and improving its performances.
Canadian Mental Health Association - Sudbury Branch $100,000 over two years to enable the Sudbury branch to continue to provide telephone pre-crisis peer support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
Centre de support Connexion Support Center $24,500 over six months to renovate this food bank, clothing and furniture depot and community kitchen, by installing accessible ramps and washrooms, refurbishing emergency supply storage containers and improving electrical lighting and wiring.
Club de ski de fond de Hearst Cross-Country Ski Club $24,800 over one year to purchase ski equipment, allowing the club to provide local youth and groups with an increased opportunity to participate in both classic cross country and skate skiing at a reasonable cost.
Club de ski MATTAGAMI Ski Club $8,700 over one year to purchase grooming equipment for safer and improved trail maintenance for this club which provides both classic cross country and skate skiing in Smooth Rock Falls.
Club Richelieu – Sudbury $50,000 over two years to support the operation of Place Richelieu, a year-round recreational camp for children.
Club St-David de Noëlville $42,000 over one year to renovate a children's summer camp located on Trout Lake. The camp renovations will ensure camp fees remain affordable and that buildings will be properly maintained.
Cochrane Temiskaming Children's Treatment Centre $75,000 over one year to equip a custom-designed playground in Timmins that will be accessible for children with physical disabilities, providing recreational opportunity for both children with or without special needs.
Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre $55,000 over six months to purchase an accessible van to enable clients, who are individuals with developmental disabilities, to have improved access to community services and activities in Timmins.
Discovery North Resource Centre Inc. $18,900 over one year to purchase furniture and equipment for a community meeting and training facility in Elliot Lake.
Ecomusée de Hearst et de la région $155,300 over three years to enable the museum to continue to develop and carry out programs. Funding will support operational and management activities that will contribute to the museum’s sustainability and benefit the local economy.

Family Life Theatre $120,000 over three years to research, develop and produce dramas that address current social problems in Sault Ste. Marie.
Gogama Trail Development Project c/o Gogama Chamber of Commerce $24,100 over one year to develop and promote walking and snowmobile trails in the community, expanding recreational opportunities and increasing tourism.
Iroquois Falls Jr. Eskis Hockey Club Inc. $25,000 over one year to increase the operational capacity of the only junior hockey team in Cochrane District, which provides low-cost sports entertainment in the region.
Kapuskasing and District Chamber of Commerce $25,000 over six months to provide certification for additional staff, enabling the Kapuskasing II Heritage Tour Boat, a key tourism attraction for the region, to increase its passenger capacity and expand its operating hours to seven days a week.
Manitoulin Island Dark Sky Association $25,000 over one year to reduce the effects of light pollution and promote the development of Manitoulin Island as a dark sky sanctuary.
Manitoulin Northshore Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Service $8,000 over three months to host a two-day conference in Little Current and train volunteers and staff who provide assistance to victims coping with the impact of crime and tragic circumstances.
Manitoulin Snowdusters Club $25,000 over one year to widen and excavate 26 kilometres of trails in order to provide safe snowmobiling on Manitoulin Island.
Meals on Wheels (Sudbury) Inc. $75,000 over six months for equipment and renovations to establish a centralized site for the organization's administration and kitchen operations.
Michaels Bay Historical Society $11,600 over one year to purchase computer equipment and supplies that will enable the organization to record and preserve the history of Michaels Bay.
Nahndahweh Tchigehgamig Wikwemikong Health Centre $13,518 over six months to host the Wikwemikong Wellness Conference, a four-day gathering to promote community health that includes workshops and social activities.
Northeastern Ontario Recreation Association $152,800 over three years to establish a regional recreation association based in Sudbury to coordinate the delivery of training and development to recreational groups in the region.
Northern Regional Recovery Continuum $12,000 over 18 months to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff providing services to women in Sudbury recovering from chemical dependencies.
Old Town Hall Concerts $25,000 over one year to improve the acoustics and lighting in Hilton Hall, which serves as the venue for musical concerts in the Village of Hilton Beach on St. Joseph Island.
Ontario National Training Centre $135,000 over three years to promote the Sudbury centre’s services in order to increase participation in its physical fitness programs and generate revenue from its amateur boxing clinics, exhibitions and tournaments.
Participation Projects - Sudbury & District $100,000 over two years to establish an after school program for teenagers with physical disabilities, to provide opportunities for socialization and to develop skills needed for independent living as adults.
Royal Canadian Legion, Espanola Branch 39 $75,000 over one year to upgrade the facility so that it can continue to operate as a community meeting place. The renovations will enhance the building's efficiency, reducing operating and maintenance costs.
Royal Canadian Legion, Onaping Falls Branch 503 $70,000 over one year for renovations to the legion hall to improve energy efficiency, safety and accessibility, to ensure its continued availability for social and recreational activities in the community.
Saint-Laurent Roman Catholic Church $24,200 over six months for renovations to improve access to the community hall so that persons with physical disabilities can participate in social and recreational activities held there.
Sault Sabercats Football Club Inc. $25,000 over six months to purchase equipment for a varsity football youth team (aged 14 to 19), enabling these teenagers to develop their football skills.
The Sault Ste. Marie & 49th Field Regiment R.C.A. Historical Society $35,300 over three years to help the Sault Ste. Marie Museum expand its education program, which promotes local heritage and attracts tourists to the area.
Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club $75,000 over three years to expand the junior swim program, making competitive and recreational swimming available to children aged six to nine.
Sault Ste. Marie Symphony Association $50,000 over three years to enable the symphony to offer two youth music education programs: “Music Instruction for Physically Challenged Students” and “Symphony Musicians in the Classroom.”
Seniors Cultural Centre c/o Seniors Citizens Club #270 $23,000 over four months to purchase equipment and complete renovations which will allow the organization to increase the number of programs currently offered at its Centre in Blind River.
Smooth Rock Falls Minor Hockey Association $6,000 over one year for office equipment to enable the Smooth Rock Falls Minor Hockey Association and the Smooth Rock Falls Figure Skating Club to centralize their operations, increase efficiency and improve services provided to the community.
Soo Arena Association $70,500 over one year to help replace the rink board system which will increase the safety of players and spectators. The initiative is expected to attract more, high calibre teams and increase the number of tournaments.
Soo Caledonia Pipe Band $15,000 over three months to increase band members from 18 to 23, purchase new equipment including new drums, uniforms and chanter reeds and promote and preserve Scottish culture.
Spanish River Snowmobile Club $12,400 over one year to provide safer trails for snowmobile drivers by purchasing an all-terrain vehicle and trailer for ongoing trail maintenance in the Spanish area.
Spanish Sports Association Inc. $75,000 over one year to renovate and equip a newly acquired building to provide a comfortable, safe and accessible youth centre in the town of Spanish.
St. John Ambulance - Sault Ste. Marie Branch $19,500 over one year to upgrade and expand office and first aid equipment to improve services offered to the community.
Sudbury Better Beginnings Educational Fund $77,000 over two years to operate a recreational program for children in a low-income neighbourhood that will enable them to have access to fun, safe, character-building activities.
Sudbury Community Service Centre $61,700 over two years to provide money management education and credit counselling to students, low-income persons and others who face credit difficulties.
The Sudbury Curling Club $75,000 over one year for renovations to improve accessibility in order to enable persons with physical disabilities to participate in social and recreational activities at the club.
Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club $25,000 over three months to purchase new timing equipment to enable the club to continue to host competitive swim meets, for the benefit of swimmers throughout northern Ontario.
Sudbury Regional Police Museum $75,000 over one year for displays and exhibits that will focus on the historical development of law enforcement in the Sudbury region.
Sudbury Rowing Club $81,100 over two years to enhance coaching and to purchase new equipment in order to facilitate the growth and development of the club's junior program and to increase membership.
Sudbury Speed Skating Club c/o The Ontario Speed Skating Association $62,000 over one year to increase the accessibility and visibility of speed skating in the community through equipment purchases, coaching development and promotion.
Sudbury Summerfest Foundation $25,000 over six months to support Summerfest 2002, a weekend family festival promoting accessibility awareness.
Timmins and Area Women in Crisis $75,000 over one year for community safety audits and the development of crisis intervention teams to provide services for women who are victims of violence in four rural communities of Cochrane District.
Timmins Police Pipes and Drums $14,500 over one year to purchase uniforms and instruments to enable this pipe band to continue to provide popular community performances.
Timmins Volunteer Centre Inc. $122,500 over three years to encourage volunteering among youth, persons with special needs, and professionals.
Township of Michipicoten 50th Anniversary Heritage Display Collaborative c/o Michipicoten Museum Society $25,000 over six months to coordinate, organize and catalogue local heritage items for a large temporary museum exhibit to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Township.
Trailsmen Rod and Gun Club $25,000 over three months to renovate and acquire equipment for its walleye ponds. The initiative will help restock Val Caron area lakes, which will contribute to the regional economy by supporting sports fishing for local anglers and tourists.
The Warren and District Lions Club $24,900 over one year to install a monument honouring the soldiers who served our country in times of war.
White River Fitness Centre $25,000 over six months for exercise equipment to establish a community fitness centre.
White River Senior Harmony Club $25,000 over six months for renovations to provide better accessibility, safety and comfort for seniors and others who participate in activities at this Club.
White River Snowbank Riders $22,700 over six months for new trail grooming equipment to improve the quality and safety of the club's snowmobile trails.
Winter Cities Forum 2003 $25,000 over six months to host the Winter Cities Forum 2003, a four-day international conference held in Sault Ste. Marie to inspire a positive attitude towards winter and promote sustainable economic development and tourism in northern communities.
