Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay
$112,500 over three years to assist with operating and equipment costs so that the organization will be able to develop a volunteer program and a sustainable fund generation initiative in order to continue to serve people with Alzheimer's and their families.

Atikokan Sportsmen's Conservation Club
$11,000 over five months to operate a walleye fish hatchery, provide interpretive tours and promote awareness about fish and wildlife conservation to the public.

Camp Quality of Northwestern Ontario
$25,000 over two years to establish a camp and special event program for children and their families affected by cancer in the Northwest region.

Canadian Mental Health Association, Fort Frances Branch
$21,000 over eight months to assist in developing business and employment opportunities for people who are living with mental illness within the Kenora-Rainy River District.

Canadian Mental Health Association, Thunder Bay Branch
$25,000 over one year to host the first "Visions and Light Film Festival" for the general public with a focus on mental illness themes.

Drug Awareness Committee of Thunder Bay
$25,000 over one year to increase awareness of the influence of alcohol and drugs on unplanned and unprotected sexual activity in order to educate young adults and promote responsible behaviour.

Dryden Ice Dogs Hockey Club
$15,000 over one year to establish a Junior A hockey team in Dryden, for youth to develop hockey skills, teamwork skills and sportsmanship.

Dryden Native Friendship Centre
$73,700 over three months to repair and renovate the Friendship Centre and to purchase equipment for programs for children, youth, adults and elders.

Fort Frances Highlanders
$18,800 over two months to upgrade equipment and uniforms in order to enhance entertainment and cultural opportunities for area residents and visitors.

Geraldton Curling Club
$20,500 over four months to purchase a battery powered ice scraper and to replace the 20-year-old suspended ceiling in the lounge area creating a safe playing environment for curlers of all ages in the community.

Harbourfest Inc.
$15,000 over two months to support the 10th anniversary of Harbourfest with an emphasis on family and children's activities.

Kenora PreSchool Playgroup
$25,000 over ten months to upgrade materials and equipment in order to provide pre-school children a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Kenora Swimming Sharks
$66,200 over three years to acquire new training equipment, and to enhance coaching staff to facilitate the growth and development of swimming programs for youth in the Kenora area.

L’Accueil francophone de Thunder Bay
$68,500 over three years to educate Francophone seniors and increase their participation in community activities.

Lake of the Woods Development Centre
$137,500 over three years to operate the Triple PLAY (Positive Leisure Activities for Youth) program, which enables youth of all backgrounds to participate in sport and recreation activities by providing free or subsidized spaces for youth from low-income families.

Longlac Cross-Country Ski Club
$25,000 over three months to enhance summer and winter programs so that more members and visitors will be able to take advantage of the facilities.

Manitouwadge Community Television Organization Inc.
$26,000 over six months to upgrade the computer broadcast system of this not-for-profit organization.

Manitouwadge Entertainment Series
$28,900 over two years to upgrade equipment and enhance artistic programming for area residents.

Manitouwadge Nursery School
$75,000 over six months to renovate the nursery school and establish a community resource centre.

Marathon Day Care Program
$24,200 over six months to upgrade the resource centre and toy lending library to better serve parents and child care providers.

Minnow-say-win
$129,400 over two years to create a digital multi-media archive of the Grassy Narrows First Nation Ojibway language, traditions and cultural teachings to preserve them for the public and future generations.

Nakokita Swim Club
$23,100 over four years for enhanced coaching and new equipment to foster the growth of the swimming programs for children and youth.

New Music North
$6,000 over two months to present a new music festival in June 2002 which will feature contemporary music by composers from around the world utilizing local musicians. The event will attract tourists to the area and support the local economy.

NorWest Community Health Centre
$117,000 over three years towards the creation of a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Fetal Alcohol Effects Family Support Program and the development of a community-wide support network in order to foster public awareness about and prevention of FAS.

Ontario Association For Mathematics Education
$7,000 over one month to host the Ontario Math Olympics to help introduce youth (aged 12 to 14) to the culture and environment of Northwestern Ontario.

Rainy River Valley Safety Coalition
$10,000 over three months to host the World Health Organization 11th Annual Conference on Safe Communities in May 2002, bringing representatives from 40 different countries to the Rainy River District.

Seven Generations Education Institute
$14,500 over one month to host the 2nd Annual Festival of Arts for Aboriginal Youth in Fort Frances, which develops and showcases career opportunities in the non-traditional field of arts and culture.

Sioux Lookout and Hudson Association for Community Living
$40,000 over one year to purchase a Handi-Transit vehicle to provide an affordable and accessible transportation service for people with disabilities.

St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church
$60,000 over three years to operate food programs such as the Gleaning Project, the Community Garden and the Kitchens Project.

Superior International Junior Hockey League
$40,000 over two years for operational expenses to develop a Northwestern Ontario Junior A hockey league enabling youth to remain in their home communities while developing hockey skills.

The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra Association
$125,000 over two years to develop sustainable funding sources through outreach and marketing programs in order to maintain the orchestra for current and future audiences.

The Thunder Bay Fringe Festival
$60,000 over 30 months to operate the festival, which attracts tourists to the area.

Thunder Bay Children's Chorus
$15,000 over one year to support a growing community children's chorus and provide an opportunity for children and youth to develop vocal skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society
$75,000 over one year to improve environmental monitoring in the storage areas of the museum and ensure the conservation of artifacts.

Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society
$25,000 over one year to enable the museum to create new exhibits and attract more visitors, including local residents and tourists, through enhanced promotions.

Thunder Bay Wolves Hockey Association
$15,000 over one year to establish a local Junior A hockey team for youth, enabling them to develop hockey skills while remaining in their home community.

Wilderness Discovery Inc.
$138,000 over five years to provide summer camping experiences and community recreation opportunities to children, adults and seniors with disabilities.
