$22,000 over three months to purchase a used ski hill groomer in order to provide better and safer trails and attract more skiers and snowboarders to the area.

N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre
$70,000 over two years to deliver a culturally appropriate literacy program for the urban native community in Sudbury.

Onaping Falls Golden Age Club
$60,000 over one year to install an elevator and renovate a washroom to make the seniors' centre fully accessible.

Onaping Falls Nordic Centre
$40,000 over 18 months to develop and groom new trails, install signs, obtain timing equipment, and enhance coaching.

Polar Bear Riders (Cochrane) Snowmobile Club
$8,900 over three months to help purchase an environmentally friendly brush cutter which will make the trails safer.

Porcupine Big Brothers and Sisters Association
$46,600 over two years to ensure that there are big brothers and big sisters for youth in the area who could benefit from this important character-building experience. The grant will recruit, train, supervise, support and match volunteers with the boys and girls.

Porcupine Miners Memorial Committee
$75,000 over one year to erect a monument at the Gold Mine Tour site to commemorate the contributions of area miners to the community. The initiative will promote local heritage, educating and attracting tourists.

Porcupine Ski Runners Cross Country Ski Club
$75,000 over three months to install lighting on 3.2 kilometres of cross-country ski trails. This will enable more people in the area to participate in cross-country skiing.

$40,000 over one year to develop a special events fundraising strategy and provide training to area non-profit agencies to enhance their capacity to raise funds.

Providence Bay Agricultural Society
$25,000 over one year to develop a moto-cross track to host races in conjunction with the Agricultural Fair in August 2002 in order to attract more visitors.

$48,700 over one year to purchase a portable stage and cover for use at Rotaryfest, Sault Ste. Marie's annual summer festival, and other local events.

$25,000 over one year to purchase playground equipment and provide a safe play environment for children.

Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation
$25,000 over three months to purchase a passenger van to transport children to and from camp and for promotional activities.

Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association
$16,000 over one year for equipment to enhance the delivery of services to immigrants and cultural organizations in the community.

Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers
$25,000 over six months for new promotional and advertising materials to increase public awareness of the Crime Stoppers program.

Sudbury Winter Tennis Club
$46,400 over two years to introduce three affordable introductory tennis programs to new junior and adult tennis players from the City of Greater Sudbury.

Sudbury Youth Orchestra
$30,600 over three years to enhance the performance capacity of the Sudbury Youth Orchestra through funding for music, coaching and guest soloists.

$75,000 over three years to improve access to community services for deaf and hearing impaired persons in order to reduce their isolation and improve their quality of life.

$50,000 over two years to deliver safety and injury prevention programs.

$16,500 over one year to compile a natural resources inventory for the Timmins area that would encourage both residents and tourists to explore their natural environment and make better use of the region’s recreational opportunities.

United Way/ Centraide Sudbury and District
$90,000 over two years to implement a Leadership Development Program for volunteers and staff of not-for-profit organizations in order to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of these organizations.

Walden Cross Country Fitness Club Inc.
$75,000 over one year to purchase grooming equipment to be shared by three organizations to maintain their trails.

Women in Crisis (Algoma) Inc.
$24,700 over one year to purchase equipment and to complete needed renovations at a women's shelter in Sault Ste. Marie.
